The aggressive Indian opening batsman Virender Sehwag is likely to miss the Champions Trophy in September as he recovers from the shoulder injury that kept him out of the ongoing ICC World Twenty20 tournament. Sehwag underwent surgery on June 11 after a wound was identified in his shoulder, and is expected to be out of cricket for around 12 to 16 weeks as suggested by he medical doctors and Indian team physiotherapist Nitin Patel. He will be observing Sehwag's healing process and his period at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore. Sehwag should wear a sling for at least a month and the injury is expected to heal in six weeks. His shoulder will also be evaluated ten weeks after the surgery to check whether he can throw a ball. Sehwag had picked up the injury during the concluding stages of the Indian Premier League and there had been severe gossip over his health condition during the build-up to the World Twenty20.
