Nadal withdraws from Wimbledon 2009

World No.1 Rafael Nadal gave an interview that he is not taking part in this year’s Wimbledon because of knee injury. So he cannot defend his last year’s Wimbledon title. But he is sure he will be bouncing back after Wimbledon. He withdrew from the traditional grass court Grand Slam after realizing that it is not worth trying to defend the title with his aching knee. He thus becomes second men’s champion in 35 years to decline to his Wimbledon title. Juan Del Potro of Argentina takes the spot of Rafael Nadal in Wimbledon’s Men draw. It was one of the toughest decisions in his life time but he had to take that decision and there is no other go if he is not 100% fit on the traditional grass court. Previously Goran Ivanisevic withdrew from defending his title in 2002. In the last Wimbledon Nadal thrashed Federer in a five set thriller which is one of the epic matches in the Tennis history. Nadal has to wait for some more time to recover. Can Federer create World Record by winning the 15th Grand Slam? We have to wait and watch because this is the best chance for Roger as he will be confident after winning the French Open 2009.
